Travelling Around Croatia

> Air

The only operater that provides domestic flights is Croatia Airlines. The main hub is the capital city Zagreb. From Zagreb you can travel to the following Croatian cities: Brac, Dubrovnik, Pula, Split and Zadar.

Croatia Airlines offices are located in all of the major towns and cities in Croatia. You can book your domestic flights from here. The airline accepts all major credit cards.

> Bus

Croatia has an excellent bus service. Buses visit every tourist destination in Croatia and the services are regular. If you’re travelling long distances in Croatia its possible to take an overnight bus. If you’re travelling on a budget then the benefit of this is that you can save on a night’s accommodation! Be warned though – you may lose out on a nights sleep if the bus driver decides to play load music on the bus or you’re sitting in front of a couple of talkative travellers!

> Train

Croatia’s rail network is nowhere near as extensive as its bus network. Again Zagreb is the hub of Croatia’s rail network. The main lines are:

Zagreb – Rijeka – Pula

Zagreb – Zadar – Sibenik – Split

Zagreb – Varazdin – Koprivnica

Zagreb – Osijek

Its important to note that there is no rail line along the coast. The trains are usually split into two types of carriages – first class and second class. Baggage can be carried for free on the trains.

On bus/train timetables dolazak means “arrivals”. Odlazak or polazak means “departures”.
